Eberhardt speaks out on new Jeeps
From the article: “The target audience for the Patriot consists of single or married professionals in their early 20s to early 40s who earn a median annual income of $65,000, Jeep says. Such buyers are “independent, rugged individuals who enjoy the outdoors” and respond to Jeep’s off-road reputation, the company says.
Targeted Compass buyers are single or married professionals in their early 20s to early 40s who earn a median income of $60,000. These people are independent and family-oriented with an upscale, fashionable lifestyle, Jeep says. ”
We all know that you cannot predict a targeted buyer when developing a new vehicle. Look at the demographic markets for the 300C and new Dodge Caliber. Everyone from young rappers to senior citzens love the 300C.

My feeling is that Patriot will be a home run, and Compass will be a single or double. But who knows? I could be wrong. Maybe. Rarely ever, but maybe
I guess it could be a positive for a dealer to say to a buyer….”So you don’t like the traditional, boxy look of Jeep? Well, how about this?”
I guess we won’t know until the Q1 2007 numbers come in….

Compass will be a hit with the women. Something softer if the Liberty is “off-road”.

I hope both are hits, but it will de difficult to sell the Compass in my opinion - it’s just DIFFERENT looking:) The Patriot will compete nicely w/ other FWD/Car based SUV’s like the RAV-4 and CRV. I just think it needs more power, the RAV-4 has a 269HP V6 in it I believe. Keep your fingers crossed if you believe in that sort of thing.

Thats a stupid target!…I think anyone will buy ANY jeep…and those 60,000+ people will buy a lexus or some other imported brand
