Firepower Showdown: Concept vs. Production
Well the Challenger Showdown officially ended. There were total of 20 votes - 17 production - 3 concept. So it looks like the majority of chryslerweblog.com readers agree the Challenger will go into production.
The Challenger was an easy one. This week, we have a more controversial concept to debate: the Chrysler Firepower concept. Do you think the Chrysler Firepower will become a production vehicle or will it stay a concept car? Tell the chryslerweblog.com what you think.

Concept. I think Chrysler and Dodge are trying to get back to classic american styling. Firepower wouldn’t seem to fit that. Love the car, hope it goes production, but think it will forever be concept.

Production. Hopefully there will be an available manual transmission.

There are some of us who don’t have a clue. While I’m in that category, I really hope that it does make it into production, but that they are able to do something with the grill. It looks a bit low and unappealing to me. But all in all, this would add another touch of cachet to the Chrysler brand portfolio.

Firepower needs to be made! It will be another car that Chrysler will make a mint on. People will line across the block for this one. I hope it comes in at around 80k, only because that way not every ‘joe’ will have one. This car is special.

Conner Avenue plant is currently being prep-ed for production of Firepower. Expect announcement as early as NY autoshow. Firepower will be produced

I think I like the styling on the Crossfire more, but I wouldn’t mind seeing the Firepower in production with a few design tweaks.

I think it will stay a concept, but I could be a complete moron and DCX goes ahead and builds it anyway. According to people on the Viper forums - CAAP is getting ready to start production right beside the redesigned Viper(slated for 08′ model year). We’ll see, hope the viper guys are right!

Chrysler has already proved that the don’t know squat on how to market a hi-end sports car (ie: Crossfire). Great car, poor marketing. Let’s hope Chrysler sticks to it’s “roots” and continues with the family hauler image it has garnered for itself over the past three decades. While the Crossfire is not a Corvette ($ and Horsepower) it has the styling to beat anything else out there. The Crossfire now has a tarnished image. Can’t market them, can’t sell them, Chrysler dealers are not, and never will be, Mecedes or BMW dealers. The Firepower would just be throwing good money after bad. You can just hear the automotive press comparing the Firepower to the “FAILED” Crossfire. Put the company $’s into something that will give a return to the shareholders (and soccer moms and dads everywhere).

What happened to the Slingshot concept? Another great contender.
Chrysler needs to speed up the transition from concept to production.

This vehicle needs to be built, if Chrysler can bring this vehicle in with gas guzzler and destination for around 55,000 it will be a home run. IT NEDDS TO LOOK JUST LIKE THE CONCEPT.
