From the article: “Chrysler CEO and Chairman Robert Nardelli said today the company’s future is critical to Detroit and to the United States.

“Our return is critical for Detroit, for the auto industry and for America,” Nardelli said at a speech here at the New York International Auto Show, according to an advance copy of his seven-page remarks. “We have a strategy to return Chrysler to profitability as an independent company.”

He reiterated the gung-ho attitude of the company’s executives.

“Chrysler is like a $60 billion startup company with a rare opportunity to truly redefine its own company culture and path to success.”
