iT LOOKS REALLY GOOD. i LIKE IT
December 9th, 2007 at 11:31 am
I’m very pleased with the look! I’m glad they kept their style cause Ford and Chevy look like crap and this will definitely compete with Toyota and Nissan. I can’t wait till Chrysler drops a 6.1 in the Ram. Look out
December 9th, 2007 at 11:32 am
I got a good look at the 2009 Dodge Ram in October at the Las Vegas new car showing.
This picture doesn’t do it justice, in person the truck is very impressive and the new interior is awesome.

Click on the link to Allpar’s segment on the ‘09 Ram and its first sentence
validates Rich’s observation about the interior..
QUESTION TO DEALIERS: Do you get a sense yet of what the marketing pros are saying about how the price of gasoline is going to mean truck sales in the future will tilt more toward businesses that really have to have them and less to macho types who like to been seen in pickups because their self-eseteem is wrapped up in the vehicles they drive? If so, that may explain some of the reaction to the pix of the Ram. The average farmer or utility or repair business is concerned with funcionality, and could care less about projecting a macho image with a humongous grille. I’m personally skeptical that even at $4 a gallon a whole lot of pickup truck buyers going to move to econoboxes. That transition may not happen until there is a generational change.

Photo Chop.
Photo Chop..
Look at the bumper .. unless it was smashed up in these photo’s…………
or is the bumper falling off ?The passenger side bumper is very noticeable Also big dark line above, around headlights, hood ..Well if it is the Ram I’d like to see the Sport model…The lights look a little wierd if it is the Ram they should have the Charger or Challenger style headlights.(4 round lights as well as round fog lights)..Also do they still have a normal quad cab ? That looks more like a crew cab as I read somewhere they would have both ? Better have over 400 H.P.or a SRT version..have to see the REAL RAM in person to make a judgement…
DaveS watch out for Toyota Prius buyers the number 1 reason they buy those is not for the environment but as a status symbol to be noticed…yes prius owners probably think they are macho..pretentious i’d say.. actually look at them and their nose is sticking so far up in the air it’s disgusting…complete morons…
December 9th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
Actually, I just looked at the pics from the good boys at ALLPAR and the Ram spy pics on those have round headlights…

looks good
December 9th, 2007 at 6:27 pm
Well,I guess it is…hmm the bumper looks funny unless its a reflection…I cant wait to see the Sport model…and engine specs…and then to look & drive one…Confused about the cab though looks like bigger rear doors and a shorter bed ? Could this be the crew cab that replaces the mega cab,and will there be a quad cab with a bed size they have now with smaller rear doors than on this one above ? Guess i’ll wait another 6 months to find out…
December 9th, 2007 at 9:27 pm
LOOKS LIKE CRAP!!!! TOO BAD THE 2008 MODEL LOOKS WAY BETTER!!! SERIOUSLY.. IF THATS IT…. THEN THIS SUCKS! IT LOOKS LIKE A GAS GUZZLING COW FROM THE MILLENIUM!!
December 9th, 2007 at 9:29 pm
While it’s good that C altered the exterior looks in a generally positive direction (and hopefully the interior, too), the “killer app” for this generation would be a smaller Cummins diesel - in both V6 and V8 configuration. Those engines are still not confirmed, I believe. But I think they would take Ram sales to the next level.
Autoblog says coil springs are almost certain:

December 9th, 2007 at 9:34 pm
That can’t possibly be the 2009! Gimme a break! Serisouly… Dodge can do better… or atleast I hope.
December 10th, 2007 at 1:10 am
Well, the accessories site has been updated. Too bad for C that everybody and their uncle took a screenshot or saved the pic.
December 10th, 2007 at 8:16 am
let’s hope this photo is a joke, unless it is, the 09 Ram is going to be a joke What is radically new about the 09 compared to an 08? nothing I can see God help us all if this is really a shot of a production model 09 Ram. If this is someones idea of a joke i’m not laughing.
December 10th, 2007 at 8:43 am
Can’t be real. it is too close to the current model.
December 10th, 2007 at 9:19 am
Sorry; but that’s the truck. Looks better in person, but the bed is getting very small.
December 10th, 2007 at 9:35 am
yes it is to close to the current model and i think the current model looks better.just like the new vans.the previous exterior looked better than the new one……..God, i sure hope it looks better than the watered down version up top!
December 10th, 2007 at 9:41 am
The frontend already looks outdated if thats the new truck.I dont think those will be the actual headlights if you compare those to the trucks with the camo.Hoefully that isnt what the new ram is going to look like, because to me if looks like a watered down f-150..
December 10th, 2007 at 9:46 am
I’m never a good judge at what will be a great seller or not.
I believe you want a truck that get’s a strong initial reaction—be it negative or positive.
If everyone likes it at first it is too plain.
I like it when people love it, and hate it. Then you have a unique style.

C,
The usual thoughtful and intellectually rigorous analysis which everyone has come to expect from your insight into the automotive market place would be more persusasive if Toyota was enticing Chrysler executives over to its payroll. Last time anyone noticed,, Chrysler was doing the hiring of folks like Jim Press and Barbara Wahl Meyer who helped lead Toyota to the sales position that it now holds and which is the envy of the industry and of everyone else who doesn’t have their heads in the cranial/rectal position.
Say ,C, check out the current Automotive News and note that J.D. Powers’ latest survey shows Toyota at the top of the heap in owner loyalty after the first year of ownership. Guess where Chrysler is? Of course, that survey was skewered by all the commies on the payroll of J.D.Powers and the insidious Asian brainswashing influences that have misled the American consumer. What a pity they don’t know what you know.

C,
Automotive News online is rigged so that it can’t be forwarded to other listserves and websites, so here’s the link to the press release on which their article about the J.D. Powers owner loyalty survey is based.
Of course, C, we all agree with the conclusion that we expect to hear fromyou: (1) the survey is rigged by J.D. Powers which is obviously on the take from the money changers in Japan, probably located in the Emperor’s palace; (2) in the unlikely event that the survey is legit and that J.D. Powers is a reputable firm, the buyers who were surveyed have either been corrupted or brainwashed because there is simply no way that right thinking Americans who love mom and apple pie could be more loyal to
Camry and Prius and Tacoma than to Sebring/Avenger and Caliber and Compass and Dakota. Everyone knows that. Sure they do, C. That survey by J.D. Powers is all BS, isn’t it? So are the monthly sales statistics. Satan himself has got to be putting those out. And that talk that Jim Press has been giving to the dealer groups he’s speaking to, reported in Monday’s Detroit Free Press, why his mother ought to wash his out with soap.
December 10th, 2007 at 12:19 pm
DaveS
The subject of J. D. Power surveys were brought up at the October dealer meeting in Vegas.
The dealer body ask Chrysler to end their association with J. D. Power.
And the cowards at Chrysler including Jim Press and Bob Nardelli said oh no we don’t want to do get J. D. Powers upset with us!
Chrysler spends to much time, energy and money on these bastards at J. D. Power.
December 10th, 2007 at 1:07 pm
Looks a lot like the 2000-2004 Ram, which in my opinion is the best looking pickup ever produced. The 09 has a more modern grill, headlights, and bumper, a more agressive hood, and it sounds like the interior is seriously upgraded.
I was expecting more changes, but I think Giles did a great job. This looks like a Ram, a truck that has never lacked for exterior styling. Here’s to hoping that the interior, powertrain, and chassis meet or exceed what the competition is putting out there.
December 10th, 2007 at 2:38 pm
DaveS,Wake Up!!You stated about alot of Ram buyers buy them because of self esteem ,image,blah,blah,blah…..BUT it is a well known fact and surveys, back my statement that toyota prius buyers buy them not for the environment but as a status symbol ,because they think its the popular thing to do and people will automatically think they are hip,up to date so Prius owners are actually full of low self esteem, weak people looking to others for self gratification, to fit in…..
Why do you always change the subjects around..Even Jim Press agreed that Chrysler gets a bad reputation which is uncalled for (detroit free press months ago).
And if you know anything about a business it is not uncommon when one changes a job especially high management to bring people you personaly know from your old place of work, because you know they do a good job..not odd to me at all,for you DaveS you cant understand this!!!?!!! Your totallty confused arent you? They do it all the time..
With any survey it can be fixed, numbers changed,or not even gathered or how about this one say the 68,000 Chrysler owners that never responded actually would praise them and are repeat Chrysler buyers..?.. Then it would of changed all of the data..Maybe more toyota owners responded ? I know I never respond to any surveys..Just look in a sub division and usually when you see someone with one Chrysler product they have another…I’ve looked at this for years(usually out hunting for classic mopars) 11 States 2 Provinces and knock on wood if they have 1 Chrysler another is usually beside it…but, if the survey is 100 % acurate maybe they never bought new Chrysler products, but if they have one they usually have another…
Oh yeah consumers reports…Tundra hmmm I’d say brainwashed owners..how can they rate their truck anything but crap….Blowing up 5.7 yes all replaced, failing transmissions ditto replaced as well, cracking tail gates (tacomas had this problem for years)
The new model sienna the cheap, bad door welds let go and pop open the front doors and the drivers fall out banging their heads losing any memory…ouch…yeah, thats why they are repeat buyers…ah…now its clear ,Furthermore ,I really believe cr (joke) after the quality of toyota’s bad welding, bad motors, bad transmissions.and they still rate them as the best…go cr..stick to toaters cr..stick to toast er..s.
December 10th, 2007 at 2:51 pm
Does any one else notice the bumper ? Passenger side,is crooked in this picture ? I,ve shown the picture to many people and agree its either crooked, photo chop,or a very strange refection that distorts it unlike any i’ve seen… but I would rather it to have round headlights as you see when you click on the allpar photo’s..and thanks to allpar they answered my question this is a crew cab with the side storage compartment and a regular quad cab with smaller rear door and a little longer box like they have now will be available they predict..I hope with round headlights, and an srt model to follow…
December 10th, 2007 at 11:45 pm
Yes the allpar picture does show round headlights. And the headlights up top in the middle picture look different too. They said the new rams frontend would lean forward like the chargers a bit and the pic at the top does too. After a couple of times looking at the picture it really is a sweet looking truck and im sure the actual truck in person will be sweet.Who knows.Lets just hope for the best!
December 11th, 2007 at 1:30 am
If thats the new ram i think it will still be the best looking truck on the market. And with a super sweet interior which i heard it will have , then it should have no problem keeping sales up.
December 11th, 2007 at 11:41 am
I hope so Eric…..but have you looked the price of gas lately?
December 11th, 2007 at 11:48 am
It’s not just raw sales, but profitable sales, that matter. The new Ram needs to make money. Pray for the new Cummins engines, everyone.
www.thetruthaboutcars.com/editorials/by-the-numbers-no-vember/
December 11th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
Fred the Cummins engine’s don’t need our prayers—but good god does the EGR sensors and the emissions AND TRANSMISSIONS need our prayers!!! (and re-engineering)
Cummins is NOT the problem!
Why meet the 2010 requirements today?
Very weak selling feature!
How about a truck that doesn’t need software flashes weekly?
December 12th, 2007 at 8:45 am
There is no way that is a photo chop. There is nothing wrong with the bumper. Compare the headlights to the test mule. Look at the front door pillar as well. Current Rams use the whole door while the 2009 is a cut out on both the test mule and the real thing. Quit being in denial if you hate it, that’s not a fake!
December 13th, 2007 at 6:18 am
AS ALWAYS CHRYSLER ON TOP.GOOD JOB!!!
December 14th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
Its a photo shopped Toyota!!
December 19th, 2007 at 12:10 pm
Did anyone ever think that this was leaked on purpose? If you read the thread at Dodgetalk.com the photo was originally taken from an ‘oops’ off the Mopar website. Could this be the new face of the Ram? Could be. Could this be a trick to look one way while Dodge goes another direction? Possible. Perhaps this was leaked to gauge public opinions about a month before all the Auto shows, just enough time to fix this or change that? Hell who knows. All I know is if this is real then I’m a little let down. Yes its true to the big cross hair grill we all know and love from Dodge, and Ill give them props on that. I was just expecting something bolder. Oh well Ill still buy it. I for one do have brand loyalty. Mopar or No car!

OK, if this indeed is the 09 Ram, its not bad. No problem with keeping the right formula, just modernizing the design. As far as some of the comments mixed in this forum, my 05 Ram has been the best truck I’ve ever owned, bar none. I use it as a truck, haul trailers, RV’s whatever, it is excellent. And, after reviewing some of Toyota’s wondertruck problems (Camshafts snapping, driveshafts breaking) I don’t see the Tundra as some earthshattering truck. My next truck will be another Ram.
January 8th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Awesome look!!! I am a Gm guy but I feel my new truck will be a dodge. I’m loving it!
January 10th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
PLEASE, SAY IT AINT SO. THAT LOOKS LIKE A TUNDRA?
LOOKS LIKE MY NEXT TRUCK WILL BE A FORD OR CHEVY.
OWNER OF AN 2006 AND LOVE IT!
January 10th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
LOOKS LIKE ANYONE OVER 6′1″ IS ONCE AGAIN SCREWED BY A LOW CEILING WHILE DRIVING. DODGE MUST OF BROUGHT SOME ENGINEERS FROM JAPAN TO DESIGN THIS ONE. THEY FORGET ONE THING, PEOPLE ARE TALLER OVER HERE!
January 14th, 2008 at 8:14 am
This truck is too wimpy for my taste. Not to mention in looks quite a bit like all the Chevy and Ford trucks on the road currently. I have a Dodge because it looks different from all the rest. Guess I will be keeping my 03 another year. I heard a story today indicating Chrysler’s looking to go hybrid on this in 2010. I’d welcome a way to save energy and money but keep my truck. My only request is go back to the “Dodge” look.

yeah thats the real one, i gotta say ive loved dodge ram since 1994, and ive loved the cummins engine, but who cares anymore i hear the 09 cumins is gonna be shit
January 29th, 2008 at 9:32 am
Looks great! Looks like Dodge design people have done well for the new image of the Ram. Dodge delivers preformance and reliability, like my current Cummins Ram, they should have a winner.
February 11th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Comming from a contractor, i’ll get one, look like it’ll have to give up some space int he box if i want the ram box. But hey not like i use it all right now anyways. Going to wait for the cummins. But it’s a winner. Beats the 09 ford hands down. This thing looks like it’ll rip the tred off the tires. The ford is the same old same old. I can’t wait for the local dealership to get some in stock i want to take it down the road.
Anyone who says this looks like a ford (fkn old rebuilt dodge) or chev, take a good look when you see it in person. This is NO comparison. Ford and chev had us mopars on the tranny years ago, but you don’t have a thing now.
