Chrysler plants voting down the tentative contract
From the article: “A majority of UAW workers at Chrysler’s Jefferson North Assembly plant rejected the tentative contract today, dealing another serious blow to chances the deal will be ratified.
It was the fourth large assembly plant to reject the agreement since voting began last Thursday. Despite hard lobbying by United Auto Workers leadership to convince voters to accept the contract, UAW workers across the country have been saying “no.”
The last time a contract was voted down was in 1982, also by workers at Chrysler. Will Cerberus need to show their hand with future product commitments in order to win over the union?

The new contract isnt so bad.I sure hope the contract goes through, because i dont wanna see what powers cerberus really has.Cerberus is a private company and will close up shop real fast.Cerberus is already paying a large amount of money up front to tackle the healthcare issues. The employees will still be making real good money, and have great benefits.I guess the only thing the employees are worried about is the two-tier pay scale, and the $14.00 for non-core production.Chrysler is trying to compete in a global world and are trying to get labor costs close to the japs.I think it will be a bad decision if the UAW really wants to mess with these new owners.I sure hoipe this new contract is ratified!

Wonder where they are going to work if Cerberus decides to make all cars outside of USA??
Why worry about new hires anyway if they don’t want a job that pays $14.00, let them go else were!!!!!!!!!

My hats off to the real union-men who voted with knowledge and conviction! Finally after 25 years the rank and file grew some testicles. In the new days of the
internet and being a smarter work-force, they just dont buy the highlights!
Being bullied by the union reps isnt working anymore either.I believe that the rank
and file has spoken and its obvious they dont agree with the tenative results!
Gentlemen let go back to the drawing board!Best wishes to all involved!
