Did Chrysler kill the PT???

From the WSJ:”Chrysler is also killing some models before they even reach the market, as part of the effort to focus scarce capital and human resources. A midsize sports-utility vehicle, code-named JZ, has been canceled, people familiar with the company’s plans said.

Chrysler is still weighing the fate of certain vehicles, including a small Jeep called the Compass. The Compass hasn’t sold well in the U.S. but has done better in Europe and other overseas markets.”

The PT should be remodeled, not eliminated!

Watcher, you may get your wish. It ain’t a done deal by any means and I have absolutely no inside information, but look at it like this: JZ was just killed and it was to be the Chrysler-branded version of Dodge Journey. So, there eeeill nshould be room in Toluca, where PT Cruiser ha has been built since Day will be capacity remaining at Toluca AP where PTC is built and where Journey is to be built…I’ve suggested elsewhere that the next PT Cruiser could be built on a shortened version of the same platform as Journey (derived from Sebring/Avenger,which in turn is just a bigger and longer version of the Caliber’s platform)… But give it a year and some Cerberus money and we can at least hope that it’s built on a newer and better platform that is the basis for and precursor of the next generation of cars that go into Belvedere.
