Check out by the plant by plant commitments in the new UAW contract. One thing you will notice is that Chrysler will not kill any car or truck during its product lifecycle.

No home for the GC is a bit surprising, though I can’t imagine that it would be discontinued. However, the Toledo North line could be sufficiently flexible to produce both the GC and the Liberty/Nitro, as Dave S pointed out. Closing Newark makes sense given the products and the fact it is a good way from everything else.

What about the St. Louis North Plant? They didn’t mention it at all. I thought I read before the UAW negotiations, that the Warren Truck Plant was going to be shut down? Anyways I guess no news is good news.

Here’s Edmunds’ report on a foreign aspect of a related subject, who will build Demon and Hornet. Edmunds says it won’t be Chery. I was resigned to seeing Hornet built in China ,but was hoping that Demon would be built somehwere in North America. Isn’t Belvedere sufficiently flexible now to handle a car the size of Demon? Judging from the recent “inventory adjustment” shut down of operations there for a week, it’s sure not constrained by volume. I guess this Edmunds report means they are wanting to build Hornet and Demon off the same platform and bring ‘em in at a price point that demands the slave-labor wages paid in China. Sad that we’ve come to that.
